Gary Fyles is an educator, curriculum writer, and author with over twenty years’ experience in education, working at the intersection of metacognition, growth mindset, and creative thinking.

Across his teaching career, Gary has been deeply involved in curriculum design and thinking-skills programmes, contributing to and working alongside internationally recognised initiatives including CASE, CAME, Cambridge nRich, MAP, Philosophy for Children (P4C) and more. His work has consistently focused on helping young people understand how they think, not just what they learn.

While teaching at an international school in Vietnam, Gary had the opportunity to work closely with Michael Walsh, curriculum writer for the renowned Let’s Think programme. It was during this time that Gary’s students repeatedly encouraged him to take his classroom messages further, urging him to turn his ideas on learning, resilience, and mindset into books that could reach children beyond his own pupils.

That encouragement, alongside Michael’s support, became the catalyst for what followed.

Gary’s first book, Think Big Playroom: Just Try, was originally published in 2021 and later republished under ThinkingBigger in 2023, alongside his second and third titles. He now has five books published with ThinkingBigger, with more in development, reaching thousands of children, families, and schools.

Beyond his own writing, Gary is the Founder and CEO of ThinkingBigger, a publishing and education-led initiative that has inspired a growing community of authors, illustrators, educators, and entrepreneurs. Many within this community credit ThinkingBigger as the moment they first believed their ideas, and voices, could matter.

Gary’s work with schools is practical, engaging, and rooted in real classroom experience. His sessions encourage curiosity, confidence, and the courage to “just try”, values that sit at the heart of everything he creates.
