In-personCorduroy Punting-Spatz is an eccentric storyteller with a very unusual habit: he notices things that most people would definitely rather not notice, especially in food.
His debut book, Things I Found in My Custard, is a wildly silly, laugh-out-loud children’s story written purely to entertain. Packed with absurd discoveries and unexpected twists, the book has quickly become a favourite with reluctant readers, while also being a joy for parents to read aloud at bedtime.
Although delightfully ridiculous, Things I Found in My Custard has real classroom potential. It is being explored for use as a sensory story in SEND schools and works brilliantly as a stimulus for creative writing, discussion, and imaginative thinking. Children are drawn in by the humour first, and the learning sneaks in afterwards.
Corduroy’s stories thrive on exaggeration, curiosity, and the simple belief that books should be fun. Very, very fun. Possibly even too fun.
Later this year, Corduroy returns with a brand-new adventure, Things I Found in My Christmas Tree, promising even stranger discoveries, festive chaos, and plenty more nonsense to fuel young imaginations.
When he’s not investigating custard, Christmas trees, or other suspicious objects, Corduroy is busy preparing his next tale, always on the lookout for the next thing that absolutely should not be there.
